The West 39th Street District is welcoming medical and other students back to class with a special event tomorrow.
It’s called Jaywalk on 39th, and billed as a special afternoon and evening street party with live music. Shops and restaurants along 39th Street will be open to meet students and help them get acquainted with local businesses.
The West 39th Street District says the idea was to engage the community just across the state line at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The businesses have provided more than $1,750 in gift cards and raffle prizes to win from 4-7p.m., with 3 bands playing with a sound stage in the 1600 block of the street. KKFI 90.1FM community radio is helping to emcee the evening. Miami Ice is sponsoring free treats to rsvp attendees and every business has a happy hour, activity, or submission in the event performance
Students of any school are invited to RSVP for the festivities.
